WHAT IS IT?

Enterprise cloud computing is the provision of cloud computing services to businesses.This will include the provision of software, infrastructure and platform services necessary to a company’s various applications. Deployment of an enterprise cloud can be based on a private cloud, residing on premise, public clouds accessed through public networks, or a hybrid cloud environment, being a combination of both.

THE PROBLEM

Cloud based computing brings a significant operational paradigm shift for enterprises. It is expected to bring increased agility, optimized use of infrastructure as well as reduced manual operations during the service lifecycle.

However, the flexibility comes with increased complexity. In the virtual world, services are made up of multiple small pieces of software which each have their own lifecycle that need to be managed. While services are defined in service models describing the required components, their relations, and dependencies. It’s no longer just one process or lifecycle that needs to be managed, it’s thousands.

It understands what state each service is in through in-built topology and brings each service and related workload to their intended state automatically to provide continuous optimized connectivity.

For service designers, StratOSS™ includes powerful tools for onboarding new workloads, designing end-to-end services, as well as integrated test tools for service verification and behavioural testing. These tools allow the service designer to quickly assemble a set of software components into a service, deploy test resources such as probes and traffic generators, spin up new environments, and automatically test the entire lifecycle of the service, before deploying it into production.

For operations, once the service is in production, StratOSS™ includes service intelligence functionality that enables the automated monitoring of key metrics and takes automated action once a service needs to be healed, scaled and upgraded, without the need for human interaction or manual effort. If something cannot be healed automatically, StratOSS™ allows operations to quickly investigate, test and restore the service, adjusting the design to prevent the issues from happening again.

StratOSS™ is also able to manage hybrid services comprising of both virtual as well as physical resources through its resource manager framework. This allows StratOSS™ to flexibly manage services that sit across data centers which are deployed on multiple cloud technologies, and include physical components, SD-WAN or other connectivity, in a service chain.
