MSA-QX Overview
Protocol Analyzer & Tester for Mobile
and Next-Generation Convergent
Networks
Overview

As the most recent introduction in Accanto System’s acclaimed MSA series, the MSA-QX adds new features and powerful new hardware elements that make it the new gold standard in portable protocol analysis. The MSA-QX is tailored for service and installation groups who support networks with wireless and/or wireline elements, and is unparalleled in its ability to isolate problems in convergent networks driven by complex signaling architectures such as VoIP and IMS.
The MSA-QX is also the industry’s most powerful field-based Customer Service Assurance tool. In this capacity, the MSA allows operators to view services from a “customer-centric” view by correlating how services and network elements affect one another, whether the services are legacy or IP-based.
The Accanto Systems all-in-one solution for field locations, customer sites or the lab.
Effortless Troubleshooting
As one of the most established protocol analysis systems on the market, the MSA-QX solves problems FAST…giving the technician every piece of data required to solve complicated problems.
All standard test results like trace decoding, xDRs (Call and Transaction Detail Records) and statistics are automatically enabled, where statistics can be viewed in either tabular or graphical format, making it easy to view the status of the network at a glance.
The MSA-QX’s advanced analysis tools are also able to capture, decode and report on both Access and Core network elements simultaneously, giving an end-to-end view of the entire network.

Extreme flexibility
The MSA-QX is one of the most versatile analyzers available, offering industry-leading features such as:
- Rapid Deployment Probe-The MSA-QX can also be quickly deployed as a portable probe in a distributed analysis system (rather than using expensive permanent probes or high-end protocol analyzers). The MSA-QX communicates seamlessly with TAMS, instantly forwarding all critical data for analysis and troubleshooting. A second 750 GB hard drive is also available for the unit, making it ideal for even the most traffic-intensive of networks.
- Remote Control via WiFi -The MSA-QX can be remotely controlled via a local AD-HOC WiFi connection from up to 100 meters away. This makes it ideal for hostile environments where it is impractical to be near the network elements under test (e.g., extreme heat, cold or noise).
Cost-effective
With its power and breadth of functionality, the MSA-QX provides a more cost-effective, streamlined approach to deploying networks and troubleshooting network issues. With a field-tested suite of practical QoS measurements, the MSA-QX is an ideal resource for operators who are trying to increase overall quality of their network and service offerings. The MSA-QX is also extremely modular, allowing the operator to purchase only the software elements required for a particular application.
Key Features and Benefits
- Powerful architecture allows analysis and simulation of real-world environments
- Multi-test capability allows 2 simultaneous multi-interface tests with up to 4 stacks per test
- Multi-interface correlation provides comprehensive end-to-end XDRs by automatically combining both the next-generation networks and mobile signaling messages coming from the same call
- Remote or local operation, with optional remote controllability via local AD-HOC WiFi connectio
- Two-user remote access reduces expenses by allowing multi-department use
- Auto monitor easily guides user through complex network settings (including UMTS Iub)
- Service quality measured using live or simulated traffic
- CDR-to-Frame function allows call signaling messages to be retrieved with detailed graphical images

Highlights
- All-in-one platform concurrently monitors both the Access network (wireless and wireline) as well as the Core network
- Powerful simulation capabilities in a convenient, cost-effective package. Used to create advanced suites for regression testing, or used to simplify acceptance testing and installation with script-based testing
- All data can be saved in playback files and recovered for off-line post analysis where reports can be compared over time
- Illustrated scenario builders, message builders and libraries make test creation effortless
- End-to-end QoS evaluation ensures voice quality is measured accurately across the entire network. Supported intrusive algorithm: PESQ (ITU P.862). Supported non-intrusive algorithms: E-Model/VQmon (ITU-T G.107), ITU P.561 and NiQA
- Reporting flexibility. Standard Reports are designed for ease-of-use for common applications, while Customized Reports make it easy to modify settings, rearrange columns, remove trace lines or add new ones
- Results exportable to several formats (HTML, TXT, XML) and into Microsoft® applications (Word, Excel, Access)
